Abstract: Polyamines are low molecular weight, aliphatic polycations found in the cells of all living organisms. The homeostasis of polyamines in plant is closely correlated with a lot of physiological processes including stress response. This review summarizes the recent advances in the plant polyamine synthesis and catabolism process research, functions of resistance to abiotic stress including salty, drought and low temperature and biotic stress as disease and insect. It is pointed an effective way to improve the plant stress resistance is of the polyamine metabolismpathway, and it has broad application prospects regulation of the homeostasis of polyamines using genetic engineering techniques in plant resistance breeding.

Key words: Polyamines, Polyamines metabolism, Abiotic stress, Biotic stress, Response to stress
