Guide for Authors

Acta Agriculturae Boreali-Sinica (AABS), jointly sponsored by the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Agricultural Association of Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Henan and Inner Mongolia, is a comprehensive agricultural academic journal under the responsibility of the Hebei Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences. This journal is bimonthly, published on the 28th of bimonthly, and published publicly at home and abroad.

1 Aims and Scope

Acta Agriculturae Boreali-Sinica publishes original research articles on crop science, fruit science, fisheries, animal husbandry, and environmental resources, focusing on the core subjects: Crop Genetics and Breeding, Germplasm Resources, Biotechnology, Tillage and Cultivation, Physiology and Biochemistry, Resources and Environment, Plant Protection, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Veterinarian.

2 Submission and Processing Cycle

The AABS editorial department is in full charge of the reception, processing, charging, and publication of manuscripts. There is no cooperation with any third party or intermediary. Please check the official website (http://www.hbnxb.net) for submission. The Journal only accepts online submissions, a paper version is not required. You will need to register on the website to complete your submission. The registration information should be genuine and valid. Before submission, please carefully check the manuscript following the guide to avoid potential rejection or revision. This process from submission to acceptance generally takes 1–3 months during which submitting to other journals is not permitted. If the revision period exceeds 3 months without a timely explanation, a new manuscript will be processed. Please log in to the website for a detailed review process and conclusion.

3 Copyright and Academic Regulations

The manuscript must be innovative and unpublish both domestically and internationally. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, as well as any involvement in confidentiality or copyright. Only one submission or publication is allowed; the author will bear all responsibilities for multiple submissions, infringements, disclosures, and other problems. The author must transfer the manuscript's copyright to the editorial department, including various media, duplication distribution, information network transmission, and compilation. For more details, please refer to "Copyright Assignment Agreement".

The author must make contributions to the work and take responsibility for the article. It is strictly prohibited to include individuals who have no involvement in the manuscript. Before submission, all authors should agree with the attribution and ranking, and review the manuscript. Author names and affiliations must be correct. After the submission of an article, updates or corrections to the author’s name or affiliation may not be permitted.

4 Manuscript Preparation

The manuscript should include: funding, an introduction to the first author, an introduction to the corresponding author, title, author name, full name of the affiliation, abstract, keywords, Chinese Library Classification, introduction, materials and methods, results and analysis, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgments, references. List author's affiliation, address, postcode, phone number and email address above the title. The full text is columnar typesetting, and the manuscript generally does not exceed 10 000 words (including figures, tables and plates).

4.1 Funding

Format: Project name (Project number). e.g. The National Key Technology R&D Program (2006BAK02A21).

4.2 Author Introduction

Format: name (year of birth—), gender, native place, professional title, educational background, degree, main research direction. e.g. ZHANG Xiaokai (1968—), male, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, professor, Ph.D., master tutor, major in crop molecular biology research. The format of the corresponding author's introduction is the same as above.

4.3 Title

The title should be concise and informative. Avoid the use of mathematical formulas, chemical formulas and non-well-known abbreviations, loanwords, symbols, code and trade names.

4.4 Author List and Affiliation

Author List: each author should be separated by commas, authors from different affiliations are distinguished by superscript numbers, and the affiliation name should be listed below. Note that the surname of the author shall be capitalized, and the first letter of the first name shall be capitalized, e.g. LI Mingxin.

Affiliation: including the full name of the working affiliation, the city/province where the affiliation is located, and the postal code.; the English affiliation name shall match the official website's published name.

4.5 Abstract

Please provide an informative abstract, including background (a brief statement in one sentence), purpose, methods, results and conclusions, focusing on describing the innovative content of the research and should describe the main thesis and important details (important arguments and data). Requirements: complete elements, not segmented, independent, complete meaning, not simply repeat the existing information in the title; specific data and scientific terms should be used when describing results and conclusions, without empty and exaggeration; The abstract should not cite reference numbers, figure numbers and formula numbers in the text.

4.6 Keywords

There are generally 5–8 keywords. The first keyword is the name of the secondary discipline or the main research object. The second keyword is the research results obtained in this article, the third keyword is the research method used to obtain the results or conclusions, and the fourth to eighth keywords are other keywords that the author thinks are conducive to retrieval and literature utilization.

4.7 The CLC number

4.8 Introduction

The introduction generally contains the following contents: ①The research background, that is, the value or significance of this research. ② Previous research progress, introduce whether similar research has been carried out, pioneering research in this field and the most representative research progress should be mentioned, domestic and foreign situations should be briefly introduced, this part of the text must be concise and concise, can not be written as a literature review. ③ The entry point of this study, what gaps or deficiencies exist in previous research. ④ The purpose to be achieved or the key problems to be solved in this study.

4.9 Materials and Methods

The name and source of test materials, test time, test conditions, test methods and data processing should be explained. If the test method is the same as that used by predecessors, it can be passed over (but the literature needs to be provided), and the changes must be explained clearly; if it is a new method, it must be explained in detail.

4.10 Results and Analysis

Results and analysis are the main content of the article, to be complete and orderly, but also detailed and slightly appropriate, the table and figure are independent and echo the text.

4.11 Discussion

The following issues should be clarified in the discussion: ① Highlight the discoveries and inventions of this study. ② The shortcomings and possible problems of this study. ③ The significance and value of the research results in theory or application. ④ Problems and suggestions that need to be further studied in the future.

The main issues that should be noted in the discussion: ① Do not repeat the content of "results and analysis", and do not make a detailed review of the literature. It is best to list several sub-headings for the problems to be discussed so that the focus and the level are clear.

4.12 Conclusion

A conclusion can summarize the important points and point out the shortcomings of this study and the prospect of future work. The abstract and introduction should not be repeated.

4.13 Figures and Tables

Figures and tables are numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals as they appear in the text and are placed after the corresponding statements in the text. All tables use three-line tables. When the units of the table are the same, the units are placed in the upper right corner of the table. The figures should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, and the line charts and histograms should be in black and white. Other figures should be colored. Note: the text expression is not a simple repetition of the chart data, but a summary and generalization of the graph and table.

4.14 References

The reference style is numbered. There shall be no less than 20 references to research papers and no less than 30 references to reviews. Mark code of different document types: Monograph [M], Collection [C], General [G], Newspaper [N], Journal [J], Dissertation [D], Report [R], Standard [S], Patent [P], Database [DB], Computer program [CP], Electronic bulletin [EB]. See the template for the specific format. Starting from the first issue of 2019, the format of reference description in Acta Agriculturae Boreali-Sinica is changed to: ① All reference authors are listed; ② English information is added to the Chinese literature, and both English and Chinese are compared; ③ Add the DOI number. The website of Acta Agriculturae Boreali-Sinica has put all the papers published since its inception in 1962 on the Internet. At the same time, it has registered the international DOI number (Digital Object Unique Identifier) for each paper, which broadens the international communication channel of the paper. The website provides a complete and standardized Chinese and English citation format for each paper, and you are welcome to search and cite.

See the Download Center for the general rules. Special note: The unit of measurement uses the national legal unit, the combined unit adopts the form of mg/(kg·min). Foreign letters and symbols must be clear case, italic, the use of italic: gene name, biological genus name and the following Latin scientific name, statistical symbols, the first 3 letters of enzyme, physical quantity symbols, variables in function formulas, etc.
