Abstract: Six microsatellite markers with high polymorphisms locating at different linkage groups were used to analyze the microsatellite DNA genetic polymorphisms of the 48 and 34 Shaoxing ducks sampled from element breed population and blue-eggshelled II strain population, respectively.A total of 152 alleles were detected, and the numbers of alleles at each locus varied from 20 to 30.The gene frequencies were 0 to 0.2.Both the hererozygosity( H) and polymorphic information content( PIC) were more than 0.8 at each microsatellite locus in the two populations. In the element breed population and blue-egg shelled II strain population, there were 3 and 2 loci, respectively, which were not in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, and they were all at AY493314 locus. The results revealed that the genetic variabilities in the element breed and blue-eggshelled II strain populations analysed were rich.
