Abstract: The basic leucine zipper(bZIP)protein that containing leucine zipper domain and basic domain are one u2nique kind of transcription factors/repressors in plants. The family of bZIP genes plays an important role in the gene ex2pression which regulating the seed storage, light morphogenesis, organogenesis, and in regulating the response of plants onthe signals of ABA,light, anaerobic life and development. The 78 bZIP genes(including bZIP like)in Arabidopsisthaliana were identified.Of them, putative AtbZIP proteins translated by the 72 bZIP genes(excluding bZIP like and hy2pothetical proteins)were clustered into 8 groups by PHY LIP according to sequence similarities of their basic region. It isvery important to study on the functional characteristics of bZIP transcription factors in plant in future.
