Abstract: A gus gens was transferred into the calli of wheat immature spikes and immature embryoes following particle bombardment. The transient expression of gus genes was tested during the calli induction period. The results indicated that the best transformation effect was obtained for culturing immature spikes on the 16th day,and for culturing immature embryoes on the 15th day.The plant calli regeneration ability was higher for culturing immature spikes than for culturing immature embryoes
