Abstract: The seeds of wheat (Jimai 24) presoaked in different concentration spermine germinated in both spermine and water. The effects of spermine on the germination vigour, germination percentage, length of buds, weight of buds, weight of roots and the activities of SOD and POD were studied. The results showed, that the germination vigour of seeds soaked in spermine 0.05mmol/L was increased, and germination percentage, bud length, bud weight and root weight were obviously higher than those of control. The activities of SOD and POD in the buds coming from seeds treated with water were increased, which decreased the level of membrane lipid peroxidation. As a result, the foundation for strengthening seedlings would be set up.

Key words: Wheat, Spermine, Germination percentage, SOD, POD
