Abstract: Transgenic chrysanthemum varieties Wanfen with OtMBY from Opisthopappus taihangensis, wide type Wanfen and Opisthopappus taihangensis were treated under water stress for 12 days, then re-watered.In the experiments, chlorophyll, soluble protein, malondianldehyde(MDA),proline, soluble sugar contents in leaves and relative permeability of cell membrane of leaves were determined. With the degree of drought stress increase, for all of the three, the content of chlorophyll in leaves decreased, while MDA,proline contents increased dramaticly.Compared with wild type Wanfen,However, the transgenic plants demonstrates greater stability and resistant, and showed similar physiological indicators variation to O.taihangensis, which its OtMYB came from. This indicated that OtMYB gene had expressed in the transgenic plants and improved their drought resistance. Moreover, the trend of soluble protein and soluble sugar contents in transformed chrysanthemum was similar to that in O.taihangensis, significantly different from that in wild type Wanfen, suggesting OtMYB gene probably could induce sugar and protein-specific expression under drought stress.
