Abstract: In recent years, rice blast epidemics have seriously occurred in Jilin province of China. Here, the resistance of all Jilin rice varieties to rice blast were analyzed by inoculation with 22 Magnaporthe oryzae strains. The results showed that the blast resistances were weak, because up to 98% of varieties could be colonized by no less than one test strain.Three varieties:Chaojidao 2,Jijing 801 and Jijing 806,were identified with quite high resistance to test strains, and could be used as stocks for cloning of new resistance genes in future.Additionally, six rice blast resistance genes:Pib,Pi-ta,Pi9,Pi-d2,Pi36 and Pikh were analyzed in all the above rice varieties with PCR amplification, and the results showed that Pi9 and Pib existed rarely, which to some extent explains why rice blast disease has occurred seriously in Jilin in past several years. The study facilitates controlling of rice blast with diversity of resistance genes.
