Abstract: In order to address the role that calmodulin plays in the regulation mechanism of calcium on the genes expression of ethylene biosynthesis and signal transduction pathway, the studies were carried out. Discs excised from tomato fruit(Lycopersicon esculentum cv. Lichun)at mature green stage were treated with 272 mmol/L CaCl2 or 272 mmol/L CaCl2+100 µmol/L WS/W7 solution, and then cultured under the aseptic conditions at 20℃.The results showed that both ethylene production and expression of LeAC01,NR, LeERF2 genes could be inhibited by CaC12 treatment, and CaCI2+WS/W7 treatment could prevent the inhibitory effect of CaCI2 treatment on ethylene production and expression of LeAC01, NR,LeERF2 genes. However, either CaC12 or CaC12+WS/W7 treatment has little effect on the expression of LeACS2 gene. These indicated that the inhibitory effect of CaC12 on expression of genes in ethylene biosynthesis and ethylene signal transduction pathway might be related to calmodulin.
