Abstract: Somaclones were developed from embryonic calli in the bases of plantlets of anther haploid (coded 90-2431).Four hills of R1 set seeds. Field investigations of R2 indicated that one out of four hills of R1 produced 86 individual plants in which variations took place. Variation frequency of the R2 lines were 25 percent. The observations of the plant height for R2 and R3 demonstrated that:(1)plant height for both R2 and R3 varied in a large extent and showed a trend of transgression. Variation of R2 were greater than that of R3;(2)variations of inter-ear lines were greater than that of intra-ear lines, both variations were outstanding;(3)8.14 percent of the R3 lines were stable;(4)plant height between R2 and R3 were positive correlated.
