Abstract: The plant height character variation of somaclonal line induced from the cultured mature embryo in wheat variety Baofeng 7228 (Triticum aestivum L.) was studied in this paper. The result indicated that the variation frequency of plant height in SC2 was 37.2%, and the average plant height was 5.1cm shorter than that of Baofeng 7228. It is enough to prove that the intention of selection in SC3 for getting shorter plant is effectively showed in SC3. The plant height character has been stabilized in 5.1% lines. It is seemed that the variation in height of somaclonal plant is related to the callus and the regenerative plant rather than to its ear. The application of the somaclonal line variation has been discussed.
