Abstract: Spring wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) Liaochun17 and winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) Jingdu 40 was chose to research effect of exogenous gamma aminobutyric acid(GABA) on waterlogged tolerance for wheat seedlings.Wheat seeds were drenched with 0,50 and 500 mg/L GABA solution, and seedlings of 10 cm in height were treated with flood for 3 days. Results showed that the treatment of GABA at favorable concentration enhanced the waterlogged tolerance of wheat seedlings. After the flood, the seedlings height of Liaochun17 and Jingdu 40 at 50 mg/L GABA were increased by 17.5% and 28.8% respectively, compared with non-GABA treatment. And the total roots length were increased by 46.58% and 11.9% in Liaochun17 and Jingdu 40 respectively. The content of chlorophyll and Fv/Fm,DPPH-radical scavenging activity were also increased, but the MDA content in leaves was reduced. The above results indicated that exogenous GABA regulated the content of chlorophyll and antioxidant enzyme, enhanced the growth and tolerance of waterlogged.
