Abstract: The effect of phosphoric amide herbicide amiprophose2methyl(APM),which was used wildly in agricul2ture,on chromosome structure and protein composition of root meristems of wheat were studied by exposure to concentra2tions of 1 - 4μ mol/L. The results indicated that,as the concentration of APM increased the frequency of chromosomalstructure variation increased. Frequencies of multipolar division cells and bridges lagging chromosome were 0108 % and01434 % respectively when root meristems were treated with 3 - 4μ mol/L APM. 2D2PAGE analysis showed that about 10new protein spots were induced and of 2 protein spots(8 kDa/PI 615,10 kDa/PI 717)disappeared by 3 - 4μ mol/L APMin the root meristem. Chromosome structure variation and protein composition changes were thought to be directly relatedto APM treatment.
