Abstract: This-study was conducted to identify the effect of REA on wheat anther culture with 8 genotypes and 3 media in 1991-1992. Results obtained were as follows; (1) REA has significant effects on callus induction frequency. In the presence of suitable amounts of REA, the callus induction frequencies of the genotypes cultured on C17 medium were 2.47-13.25 times as high as those without REA. When REA was added to KUI medium, the callus induction frequencies increased by 0.52-3.40%. For most of the genotypes used, it's useful for improving callus frequency to add 3-6mg/L REA to C17 medium and KUI medium. (2) The interaction of REA, media and genotypes was found, the most suitable addition amount of REA was relative to genotypes and media. (3) REA could promote the growth of plantlets and increase the green plantlet frequency at great degree. It's very useful for improving green plantlet frequency to add 6mg/L REA to MS medium. (4) REA could decrease albino frequency. It was suggested that albino was relative to nutrition conditions. The production of albino could be partly controllcd by means of adjusting the ingredients of the medium.
