Abstract: The aim of this study was to screen the selenium-enriched wheat varieties with stable yield, high efficiency, and to locate the suitable area for planting high quality and strong gluten wheat. The study selects 3 test sites including Gaocheng district of Shijiazhuang, Ningjin county of Xingtai and Guantao county of Handan, as well as 7 high quality winter wheat varieties and 5 high yield winter wheat varieties, the selenium content in grains was measured after harvest, and the differences of selenium content in grains between different regions of the same variety and between different wheat varieties in the same location were compared, the relationship between grain yield and grain selenium content was analyzed. The results showed that the highest mean value of selenium content in wheat grains was 0.177 mg/kg in Gaocheng which reached the standard of selenium-enriched wheat, followed by 0.084 mg/kg in Ningjin, and the lowest value was 0.04 mg/kg in Guantao; the mean selenium content of high quality strong gluten wheat was lower than that of medium gluten wheat in the same place, the mean grain selenium content of high quality strong gluten wheat decreased by 37.6% than that of medium gluten wheat in Gaocheng, Ningjin decreased by 26.7% and Guantao decreased by 15.6%. There was a positive correlation(R=0.972) between soil selenium content and grain selenium content of wheat, but the difference was not significant(P=0.152>0.05). The grain selenium content of middle gluten wheat varieties H4444, JM22, SM22, XM13 and YB700 reached more than 0.2 mg/kg, which can be used as selenium-rich wheat varieties in this region.
