Abstract: A putative potassium transporter gene TPK2 was cloned in tobacco with RACE method in this study.Bioinformatic analysis shows that TPK2 encodes a polypeptide consisting of 563 amino acids, and its molecular weight is 62.6 kDa, isoelectric point of 7.94.The amino acid sequence of TPK2 has the conserved domain of c15781 which is vital for potassium transport in plants.Homology analysis shows that TPK 2 shares high similarity with high affinity transporter proteins from arabidopsis, rice and other plants, which indicates that TPK2 may play a key role in tobacco potassium transport.
