Abstract: The experiment was conducted to detect the genetic variations of cAPN3 gene in Chinese Red Steppes. The polymorphisms in CAPN3 gene in Chinese Red Steppe were detected by PCR-SSCP.The result of cloning and sequencing indicated that polymorphism of exonl was dued to base mutation of A-G in position 124,and there were three genotypes(AA,AB and BB).The analysis of variance was conducted and the results showed that Beef dressing percentage, neat percentage and marbling were significantly related with the different genotypes of CAPN3 gene. The results of this research Can provide the foundations for CAPN3 as a beef tenderness candidate gene.
