Abstract: The effects of nitrogen on the contents of protein components, NR activities and dry weight accumulation in the seedlings of flue-cured tobacco K326 in the floating system were studied in 2006. The experiment involved three treatments: N0: nitrogen was not applied in early stage and 100 mg/L nitrogen was applied in later stage; N1: 100 mg/L nitrogen was applied in both stages; N2: 200 mg/L nitrogen was applied in both stages. The results indicated that during 35-56 days after seedling, the changing tendency of water-soluble protein content for each treatment was the same as that of total soluble protein content, the correlation between which was highly significant. The content of water-soluble protein accounted for 55.6%-79.6% of total soluble proteins. The changes of alcohol-soluble protein content of each treatment presented a single-peak curve and the peak appeared on the 49th day after seedling. The contents of alkali-soluble proteins among the three treatments. Took on the tendency of N2>N1>N0 after seedling 42 d. N2 decreased the NR activities. The root dry weights in the three treatments were in order of N1>N2>N0, while the leaf dry weights of both N1 and N2 were greater than that of N0.
