Abstract: The wheat seedlings were cultivated in the mode of simulated saline stresses and the effects of exogenous auxin (IAA) on its physiological adaptation to saline stress during wheat germination were investigated. The results showed:Unlike sodium chloride stress, the soluble sugars and soluble proteins and free prolines in the roots and shoots of wheat seedlings were enhanced by saline treatments with low concentration.IAA could regulate the synthesis of substances and osmosis induced by saline stress in the roots and shoots. The effects of exogenous IAA treatments on physiological metabolism in the roots and shoots of wheat seedlings respectively under saline stress were different. The changes of root/shoot ratio indicated that IAA could strengthen the adaptation of wheat seedlings during its germination to saline stresses in some extent.
