Abstract: Three male sterile lines and their corresponding preserved lines, five restoring lines, and their hybrids were used to study effects of Ae. kotschyi cytoplasm on sixteen main traits of wheat. The results showed that Ae. kotschyi cytoplasm had different effects on different wheat traits. It was disadvantageous to agronomic traits, while it was advantageous to quality traits. Plant height was shortened. Yield decreased since ears and spikelets and grain number per culm decreased, and 1000-grain weight and grain weight per culm ear became lower. However, grain protein content and wet glutin content increased. Hybrids either of different male sterile lines or restoring lines had different responses, therefore, it is possible to choose a male sterile line and a restoring line with little cytoplasm effect.
