Abstract: Spraying the leaves of wheat seedlings with 2×10 -5 mol/L of indole 3 acetic acid (IAA) and 5×10 -4 mol/L of gibberellic acid (GA 3) under dry soid conditions may inhibit the activities of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPCase),peroxidase (POD)and catalase(CAT).When the wheat leaves were treated with IAA,the superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and the chlorophyll content were increased significantly, while the stomatal resistance and water potential were affected little under the same experimental conditions.GA 3 could decrease SOD activity, and no effect on the chlorophyll content ,stomatal resistance as well as water potential were slightly changed. These results showed that IAA and GA 3 could play a less favorable role in plant resistance to drought. It is evident indirectly that drought induced degradation of IAA and GA 3 in plants may be an adaptation to drought.
