Abstract: Cucumber varieties of different resisitance level to scab were inoculated with conidia of Cladosporium cucumerium, the content of chlorophyll, activity of polyphenol oxidase(PPO) and peroxidase(POD) were analysed before inoculation and 6h,12h,24h,36h,48h and 72h after inoculation. The results showed that there was no obvious relationship between the content of chlorophyll of the tested plants and their resistance. The activity of PPO and POD changed little within 24h after inoculation. The activity of PPO and POD of the resistant caltivars increased rapidly in 24-48h after inoculation as compared with the susceptible ones. The activity of PPO and POD of the susceptible varieties increased in 48h after inoculation. It was suggested that the changes in the activity of PPO and POD after inoculation were closely corelated with the varieties resistance.
