Abstract: Studies were conducted on 4 groups of Chinese Cabbage(Brassica campestris var.pekinensis)with different resistance level to Alternaria brassicae collected from many parts of the country. It is concluded that 5 types of different virulence of the Alternaria brassicae were divided as AB1,AB2,AB3,AB4 and AB5 from low to high virulence, respectively,on the basis of the study on 53 strains of Alternaria brassicae the incidence frequency on the test materials was determined, although no special patterns were found concerning their regional distribution and original hosts. The strain of AB4 was recommended to be used as the inoculation pathogen for the nation wide antigen screening ,because of its stronger virulence and higher incidence found in this study.
