Abstract: Twenty-four SSR on the 12 chromosomes of rice ( Oryza sativaL. ) were selected to assess the genetic variation among 30 main restorer lines of hybrid rice in South of China. A total of 70 alleles were detected, and per primer pair detected 2. 5 alleles on the average. The number of effective alleles ranged from 1. 069 to 4. 000,on an average of 2. 051. The polymorphism information content ( PIC) ranged from 0. 064 to 0. 750,on an average of 0. 456. The result of cluster analysis showed that the genetic similarity among 30 rice restorer lines ranged from 0. 58 to 0. 97. Four restorer lines Gui55, 9518,Ce315 and 5058 showed greater genetic diversity in comparison with the other restorer lines. The above 4 restorer lines could be used to breed hybrid rice with strong superiority.
