Abstract: In this paper, several morphological and physiologic parameters of leaf senescence of w inter wheatw ere studied under different levels of nut rition supply and normal condition of w ater. Garden pot s (20 cm value 20cm) filled with clean sand w ere used to culture the seedlings. Two varieties (No. 621,drought resistance, andZhong Mai No. 9,droug ht sensit ivity) were used. It could be concluded that de- green of leaf happened ordervaluely. The death initiated from older leaf and senescence began from t ip of leaf. In senile leaf the photosynthet icrate decreased sig nificant ly and content of chlorophyll and protein reduced at the same t ime. But w ater contentof leaf still remained a higher level. The evidence revealed the senescence of wheat leaf show ed the morpholog icand physionlog ic feature of programmed cell death in this study.
