Abstract: Recombinant inbred lines(RIL) derived f rom sping wheat hybrid betw een Seri88 and Siete Cerrosw ere used to study the relationship of heat tolerance and acquired heat tolerance in wheat. The electrolyte leakagetest was conducted using seedling s exposed to 40 e hardening for 48 h to study the relationship between acquiredtolerance and performance of gemotypes grown under tw o dif ferent field environment s. Large g enet ic dif ferencein relative injury (RI% ) w ere observed among 25 genotypes, ranging f rom 39. 0% ~ 75. 8%. The correlation ofRI values with heat tolerance trait s indicated that RI average values had a significant posit ive association withheat suscept ibility index of 1 000 kernel w eight and of kernel w eight per spike, and a signif icant nagative association with yield related trait s under second sow ing date environments, which indicated that membrane thermostability(MT ) test was a useful screening method for the selection of heat tolerance genotyes of wheat.
