Abstract: Heat tolerance of wheat was studied by change of the amount of electrolyte leakage. The degree of heat tolerance was expressed by the heat killing time at 50℃ .Increased heat tolerance reached a peak after acclimation at 34℃ for 3 days. The heat-tolerant and heat-susceptible cultivars of wheat did not differ in killing time when the seedlings were grown at 20℃/15℃ (day/night) condition.Their heat killing times were between 6 to 26 minutes. However the difference became marked after acclimation at 34℃ for 3 days. The heat killing times of heat-tolerant cultivars (87-110 minutes) were dramatically higher than that of heat-susceptible ones (35-53 minutes).
