Abstract: Crossing was made between resistant parents and early-matur-ing, high-yielding, non-resistant parents, Phenotypes of the F1 generation and the ratio of resistant plants to susceptible plants in the FZ generation were investigated,Dominant resistance was found in F}.The FZ segregated either at the ratio of 3:1,indicating the presence of a single resistant gene,or at the ratio of 15:1 or 63:l,indicating the presence of 2 or 3 dominant genes, Two new lines-L ine 86-9-1 (Yinxiu 1)and Line 86-9-4 (Yinxiu 2)-were selected from the combination 80-2x30-7 and tested for reactions to physiological races of Bean Rust collected from seven different areas, Results showed that these two lines were highly resistant to the dominant but susceptible to race +Tianjin 1136",indicating that these two lines were vertically resistant, "Three lines, i,c,87-2-8-1,87-1-33-2 and 87-1-18-2-3, selected from combination of 80-4 x yudou No, 12 were moderately resistant to dominant, physiological races from seven areas and race"Tianjin 1136",demonstrating that the new lines were horizontally resistant. All the lines increased yield remarkably during the epidemic season of the Bean Rust disease.
