Abstract: Three days after inoculation by BTV-17, cell congregation, fusion and abscission were observed in the Aa-778 cells. On day 4, the highest value of the cytopathologic changes(CPE) was detected and the cell returned to normal after day 6. The presence of viroplasms and viral antigens in the infected cells was confirmed by the immunofluorescence techniques. Results of the TCID50 meassurements indicated possible reproduction of the first generation of the cytovirus in the Aa-778 cells and similar virulence in the Aa-778 cells to that in the BHK 21 cells.

Key words: Cell line, Blue Tongue virus, Sensitivity
