Abstract: The resistant strain-8407 is a high resistant strain of Chinese cabbage (Brassica pekinensis Rupr,)to turnip mosaic virus (TuMV).This resi-stant strain was checked by Chinese experts on Chinese cabbage in 1985 and accepted as a national resistant strain, The identical result indicated that seventeen of nineteen separations from TuMV, which were collected from ten provinces and cities, were immune to the disease, other two showed some slight symptoms,Therefore the 8407 was acknowledged to be the best vertical resistant strain to TuMV, This resistant strain was bred from piemarker from 1978 to 1983,and the affinity index and coordination rate were determined,A poly-resistant strain-8361 u-as bred from the 8407 and another selfpollinated strain in 1983.
