Abstract: In order to understand the genetic diversity of wheat germplasm from the middle and low reaches of Yangtze River in China and provide the basic materials for quality improvement of wheat variety,319 accessions of wheat germplasm from the middle and low reaches of Yangtze River were analyzed with SDS-PAGE to reveal the allele variant of high molecular weight gluten subunits(HWM-GS).The results showed that there were 14 alleles on Glu-1 loci,3 alleles on Glu-A1 loci,7 alleles on Glu-B1 loci,4 alleles on Glu-D1 loci. The frequencies of N,7+8,2+12 alleles were the highest on Glu-A1, Glu-B1 and Glu-D1 loci, and were 49.21%,54.55%,68.65%,respectively.A total of 24 HMW-GS combination forms were identified in these materials, among which combination form(1/7+8/2+12) was the most frequent(25.39%),followed by(N/7+8/2+12)(17.24%),(N/7+9/2+12)(10.97%), (N/7+9/5+10)(10.34%),and the rest were rare subunit combinations, with frequency of 0.31%-6.90%.The materials containing elite subunits, such as 2*,17+18,7+8,14+15,5+10,were identified, and could be used as the origin of elite gene.
