Abstract: Breeding for high vitamin E contents in soybeans is highly concerned recently. The objective of the present study was aimed at revealing the genetic system of vitamin E contents with a recombinant inbred line for the traits improvement in 2008 and 2009 years.Genetic mechanism of vitamin E composition contents in soybean was performed under major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance model in the RIL population of BIEX consisting of 208 families derived from the cross Essex×ZDD2315.The results showed that α-tocopherol,γ-tocopherol and total tocopherol contents of the cross were controlled by two major genes plus polygenes, with the major gene heritability of 59.62%,75.99% and 77.05%,respectively,and polygene heritability of 35.90%,13.96% and 15.05%,respectively.δ-tocopherol content of the cross was controlled by one major gene plus polygenes, with the major gene heritability of 50.39%,and the polygene heritability of 38.11%.The inheritance of vitamin E composition contents in soybean involved with both major genes and polygenes while the major genes with their heritability of more than 50% and the polygene heritability of more than 10%.From described above,it was inferred that breeders for vitamin E contents should pay attention to both main genes and polygenes.
