Abstract: Consumption of diets containing large quantity of grain or fermentable carbohydrates tends to increase the risk of subacute ruminal acidosis(SARA),which is a common and economically important problem in production.Herds suffered from SARA have low performance but increase the culling rate, which severely influenced the benefits of feeding.Nowadays, rumen puncture and clinical signs of SARA are often used as a method for diagnosising SARA on farm, besides, other useful methods can also be used. This study provides a review of the main signs associated with SARA and the indicators from rumen liquid and blood to diagnosis of SARA and the problems of each method have also been described.
