Abstract: Blasting target genome database of 18 plant species using eight A. thaliana acyl carrier proteins (ACPs) as queries,138 ACP cDNA sequences and 12 ACP fragments were isolated. Plant ACPs were encoded by one gene family including 2-16 members. The amino acid sequence surrounding the phosphopantetheine attachment sites (Ser) within the DSL motif was highly conserved in plant ACPs. Gene organization of plant ACPs can be grouped into five types and the type III was in the largest proportion. One or 2-4 members of ACP families were located on one chromosome in most plant genomes. Nineteen ACP genes can produce splicing variants in 138 plant ACPs. Plant ACP isoforms may be originated from one ancestral ACP gene.
