Abstract: The experiments were made with tomato. It was studied that effect of soil water content on diurnal changes of chlorophyll fluorescence parameter of tomato. The results indicated that maximum fluorescence (Fm), variable fluorescence (Fv), the ratio of the variable to maximum fluorescence (Fv/Fm), the ratio of the variable to minimal fluorescence (Fv/Fo) varied in a high-low-high shape manner, while the minimal fluorescence (Fo) and the electron transport rate (ETR) varied in a low-high-low shape manner, Fm, Fv, Fv/Fm, Fv/Fo reached their lowest points at 16:00, Fo reached its highest point t 16:00, ETR reached its highest point at 13:00. Under water stress, Fm, Fv, Fv/Fm, Fv/Fo decreased, while Fo and ETR raise. Analysis indicated that photosystem Ⅱ damaged, and primary light energy conversion of PSⅡ (Fv/Fm), potential activities of PSⅡ (Fv/Fo) decreased, photosythetic primary action inhibited.
