Abstract: A antagonistic strain of Bacillus sp(B96-II) against Fusarium wilt was isolated from compost extract.Further tests proved that the B96-II could effectively inhibit the development of 3 Fusarium wilts in cucumber, water melon, paprika, etc. The phenomena of conidia lysogenesis, conidia wall destruction, inhibition, and deformation of hyphal growth were observed. The inhibition rates of conidia germination of the above mentioned pathogens were 56.2%,57.3%,and 54.7%,and the inhibition rates of germination tube growth were 88.5%,87.5%,and 79.5%.Chitinase was detected as one of the main inhibiting substances.

Key words: Soil born disease, Fusarium oxysporum, Antagonist, Chitinase, Lysogenesis
