Abstract: The result slowed that the physiological characteristics between hardy dwarfing rootstocks and arborescent rootstocks had obvious difference in jinhong apple. Compared to arboreous tree, the leaf thickness, specific leaf weight, chlorophl content and phtosynthetic rate of dwarfing tree rose remarkably, which were respectively increased by about 21.0-36.5 μm, 4.98-6.37 mg·g~(-1),0.249-0.431 mg·g~(-1)and 1.81-10.86 mg·dm~(-2)·h~(-1), meanwhile, there was higher ratio of palisade mesophyll vs.spongy mesophyll on leaf. During the period of growth, there were more free amino acid and soluble sugar in leaf, maintaining the high content for dwarfing tree. With the coming of autumn, dwarfing tree had more ABA than normal arboreous tree's in leaf, and the content of GA_3 and IAA was lower.
