Abstract: With the parents F1,F2and F3 of 4 crosses, the effects of selection for six kernel quality characters in early generations in wheat were studied. The heritailities of the quality characters were in termiediate in which the heritabilities of the grain protein content and the gluten content were greater than that of the sedimentation value. The relative expected gain of selection for the quality characters in the early generations of all the studied crosses wash igh,and the sedimentation value was the greatest. In the analysis of correlated genetic gain, the selection for the dry gluten content had increasing effect on other quality characters.
