Abstract: The kinetics of Zn sorption. and desorption in red earth and yellow-brown earth was investigated using a constant flow leaching method. Attentions were focused mainly on the effects of the concentration of added Zn, pH value and the ambient temperature on the kinetics of Zn sorption and desorption in the two soils. The experimental results indicated that the kinetic characteristics of Zn sorption in the two soils were affected obviously by pH value and the concentration of added Zn. The mechanism of Zn sorption in the two soils could be divided apparently into chemsorption and physical-sorption. Tie result of desorptive experiment with 0.05 mo1L-1CaC1z indicated that Zn-Ca exchange was almost reversible.
