Purity Test of F1 Hybrid Cultivars of Several Vegetables by Seed Water-soluble Protein Isoelectric Focusing Electrophoresis

Abstract: In this study eight vegetable F1 hybrid cultivars were clearly distinguished from their parents based on the protein band patterns.A method of testing hybrid seed purity was developed by using seed water-soluble protein isoelectric focusing electrophoresis.The purity test results were attested to be correct by the congentional method of field test which needed several months.The protein electrophoresis is quick, easy, cheap and accurate, as compared with the traditional method and also can be a very useful tool in genetic analysis for vegetable breeders.
