Abstract: The solo-stalk cultural method for `vhea.t is herein proposed，after 7 years of stud y，for the winter wheat region in north China, This new method emphasizes that high yield depends on the caring ability of the main stalk, The main points are as follows; 1 .Increase the nu tuber of seedlings so as to be equal to, or a little less than，the nu tuber of ears to develop; 2 .T he so wing date is later or longer than that of the conven tional method; 3 .Apply no or less N fertilizers during the early growing stagesy and 4。Apply fertilizers only once after the elongation stage ends wd before the flag leaf tip appears, This method is characteristic of late swing，early maturing，high yield, to w cost，short stalk and lodging resislance, And it also makes multiple cropping possible, This method can be introduced to areas with medium or high soil fertility and certian irrigation facilities.
