Abstract: On the base of principal components analyses, the genetic distances were estimated among 39 wheat parents. These parents were classified by adopting the method of the shortest distances. The results showed that it was reasonable that parents were divided into 10 groups. In order to draw up cross combinations, besides considering other selection principles of parent, the parents should be selected among different classes (genetic distances D≥D =7.20). The quotas of principal components were raised. 19 groups better parents were selected from those groups. They were respectively 81285-1-2-2, 85-139, 881, 7182-0 - 1 - 1/Samen De, He85-1, Aixuang 10, Exito, S14, Anyang83-18, 9615-112, Anyang80-49, Ji84-5418, Anyang85-1, 80 (6) -50-1, Shannong114753, 775-1, Xichang1167 and CA80228.
