Abstract: The drought resistance of 300 spring wheat varieties was evaluated under natural environment of Beijing in 1988. The results showed that the survival rate after repeated drought was a fairly reliable index for drought resistance evaluation; the varieties form higher drought resistant ecological areas had comparatively stable cell membrane, higher dry matter accumulation and stronger water-holding power; the leaf water-losing rate after excision from plant for six hours, the relative electric conductivity of leaves and the ratio of dry weight to fresh weight of leaves were considered to be convenient and reliable physiological methods for drought resistance evaluation of germplasm resources;there were many drought resistant spring wheat varieties in the three ecological areas-Kansu province, Heilongjiang province and Nei Monggol Autonomous Region.
