Abstract: To provide guidelines for rapid identify of different cold resistance of tomato germplasm, the correlation between germination rate of tomato seeds under suboptimal temperature and cold-resistant of tomato seedlings was investigated. Our results showed that there was a negative correlation between the germination rate of tomato seeds under suboptimal temperature and chilling index of tomato seedlings(r=-0.781 7*).Whereas the chilling index of tomato seedlings showed significant negative correlated with the chlorophyll content of tomato seedlings leaves treated under cold temperature(12℃/8℃) for 3 days(r=-0.914 4**) and SOD activities of tomato seedlings leaves treated under cold temperature(12℃/8℃)for 6 days in addition, the chilling index of tomato seedlings was negative correlated with the relative permeability of cell membrane and soluble sugar content of tomato seedling leaves treated under cold temperature(12℃/8℃) for 6 days(r=-0.773 6*,r=-0.760 8*).In conclusion, the germination rate of Germination rate;tomato seeds under suboptimal temperature was correlated with cold resistance of tomato seedlings and the germination rate under 15℃ for 12 days of tomato seeds can be used as a rapid identify index of different cold resistance of tomato germplasm.
