A Study on the Industrial Breeding Technology of High quality Virus free Date Seedlings

Abstract: The present study applied biotechnology on the industrial breeding of virus free date on a small scale .The study completed systematic researches from the removal of MLO to tissue culture initiation,proliferative culture,root inducing culture,the soil less cultivation of tissue cultured seedling,greenhouse pot cultivation;field acclimatiation and transplanting technology of greenleaf plants to fields.The rooting rate was 94%.The survival rate of transplanting was 98%.The high quality date seedling could develop to 40-80 cm high in one year,and the next year it could reach 115-118 cm high.This technology provided effective ways for solving the three baffling problems,i,e,slow propagation,lower quality and serious virus diseases found in the jujube production.
