Abstract: The seed proteins of variant lines of wheat into which exogenous DAN was directly introduced were analyzed via SDS-PAGE.The result showed that the seed protein components remarkbly changed:in Xiaoyan6 and Suporear wheat varieties the new proteins such as 47KD,71KD and 90KD,85KD appeared, and the protein contents also increased about 22% and 31% compared with that of the control. On the other hand,in Chinese Spring wheat protein components 92KD,82KD disappeared, and the protein contents decreased slightly(6%).These variations can be stably passed onto the progenies. It is,therefore, suggected that the technology of direct exogenous gene transfer to plants may be a new approach for breeding and improving nutrient quality in wheat.
