Abstract: Bone morphogenetic protein-15(BMP15) was exclusively expressed in oocyte and plays important role in oocyte development and maturation in vertebrate. In this study, using rongchang pig follicle tissue, the BMP15 gene was cloned and its mRNA transcripts expression was analyzed. The studies showed that Rongchang pig BMP15 (rcBMP15) gene contained a 1 298 bp in length and containing complete open reading frame and was most close to wild boar, landrace and meishan pigs BMP15 gene in evolutionary relationships. rcBMP15 gene had typical structure characteristics of the transforming growth factor beta family. Using RT-PCR,we also found that it is highly expressed exclusively in pig ovary. These results laid the foundation to elucidate the roles in regulation mechanism and follicular development of the BMP15 gene.
