Abstract: Opencast coal mining leaves large areas of refuse dump, because of the environment pollution, soil erosion、nutrient-poor of soil and biodiversity loss, vegetation reclamation in these areas is difficult,so explore the measures for soil improvement is important to practice. In this paper, the effect of combined application of microbial inoculum and fertilizer on growth of alfalfa in refuse dump through pot culture experiment, and then explore the effect of combined application of microbial inoculum and fertilizer on improvement of mine soil. The results showed that combined application of microbial inoculum and fertilizer significantly increased the alfalfa's biomass, plant height, the content of chlorophyll, protein, soluble sugar and activity of antioxidant enzyme isozyme, nutrient content of reclaimed soil was also significantly increased. The most effective treatments was organic fertilizer+inorganic fertilizer+microbial inoculum applied, compared with the control, the increasing rates of plant height, fresh weight and dry weight reached 47%,277% and 280%,the increasing rates of chlorophyll content, protein content and soluble sugar content reached 36%,183% and 59%,the increased rates of hydrogen peroxide activity, peroxidase activity and superoxide dismutase activity reached 281%,1250% and 15%,the increased rates of soil available N,P,organic matter, total N and P reached 130%,217%,76%,102% and 160%,the increased rates of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi reached 103%,68% and 20%.In general, combined application of microbial inoculum, inorganic fertilizer and organic fertilizer significantly promoted the growth of alfalfa and improved the fertility of dump soil, was a good combination of vegetation reclamation in mine wasteland soil.
