Major Gene and Poly-gene Hybrid Genetic Analysis on 100-seed Weight Traits of Popcorn

Abstract: Through applying the genetic model of major gene of plant quantitative traits + poly-gene mixed genetic,we studied the heredity of 100-seed weight of 6 ancestry generation(P1,F1,P2,B1:2,B2:2,F2:3)of JI popping 902(Ji812× Ji704).The results showed that:heredity of 100-seed weight traits conforms to the D-2 model,that was the model of 1 pair of additive major gene and additive-dominant poly-gene.100-seed weight of popcorn was additive heredity which is controlled by 1 pair of independent major gene,additive effect of major gene was d=0.078 5,additive effect of poly-gene was[d] =0.795 2,dominant effect of poly-gene was [h]=1.495 3.The major gene heritability of 3 ancestry generation(B1:2,B2:2,F2:3)was 12.96%,51.42% and 70.33% respectively,and the poly-gene heritability was 67.63%,34.41% and 12.81% respectively.It was revealed that 100-seed weight of ancestry generation of B2:2 and F2:3 showed higher major gene heritability.The improvement of 100-seed weight traits of Ji812×Ji704 combination should focus on the major gene and pay attention to the environmental influences as well.
