Abstract: "Taihe silky fowl was used in this research to investigate the effect of IGF-1 as a candidate gene on chicken growth traits.primers for IGF-1was designed according to the database of chicken genomic sequence.PCR-SSCP and PCR-RFLP were used to detect the genotypes in order to discuss the relationship between genotypes and growth traits. One mutation was found in the exon 1 of IGF-1.The statistic results showed that 12 W body weight were significant different(P0.05)between different genotypes.AB genotype birds has significant higher(P 0.05)body weight on 12 W than AA genotype.Genetic variation of the 5' region of the IGF-1gene were detected by PCR-RELP,Three genotypes CC,CD and DD were identified after the PCR products were cut by Pst I restriction enzyme, the statistic results showed that 12 W body weight were not significant different between different genotypes"
